Psychological Assessment

Psychological assessment can help you and your clinician determine the nature of your condition, and identify the diagnostic consideration that will help you advocate for your needs.

Psychological assessment can be a stressful and overwhelming experience.

Our team of professionals is trained in conducting assessments as well as taking the time to explain the process, understand the results and recommend actions that an individual can take to improve their well-being.

The assessment typically consists of a clinical interview and the completion of self- and other questionnaires to evaluate your mental health functioning. Sometimes a consultation with another member of a person’s care team and/or family is included.

Once the assessment data is collected, your psychologists will produce a report that contains the history of your challenges, along with social and familial factors that might contribute to your difficulties, results of the questionnaires and the diagnostic impressions as well as recommendations to improve your well-being.

All of this will be shared with an assessed person during the feedback session to allow the individual to ask questions and to express their concerns.

A psychoeducational assessment is usually conducted to help evaluate an individual's intellectual, emotional and social development. The assessment will help an individual understand their cognitive strengths and weaknesses as well as dictate the proper course of care. Such assessment is necessary to ensure that you are being adequately supported in school/work environment and to inform your future care.

Note: Diagnostic evaluation is a controlled act in Ontario and the right to provide a diagnosis is reserved to Psychologists, Psychological Associates and Physicians.

Duration of an assessment varies based on the assessment question.

Cost of an assessment depends on the type of an assessment and ranges from $2000 - $3000.
