What brings people to this work.

People often reach out when their internal experience no longer aligns with how capable or composed they appear to others. This often includes one or more of the following:

A persistent internal pressure to perform or improve
Even when things are objectively going well, there is a constant sense of needing to stay ahead, avoid mistakes, or not let standards slip.

An internal critical voice that has become costly
What once helped drive focus and achievement now feels relentless, unforgiving, or difficult to quiet — particularly under pressure.

A sense of carrying responsibility alone
There is little space to think out loud, hesitate, or not know, despite managing significant roles, decisions, or expectations.

Difficulty switching off or feeling settled outside of work or performance
Periods of rest feel uneasy or unproductive, and attention remains tethered to what’s next, what’s unresolved, or what could go wrong.

Decision-making that feels heavier than it used to
Choices require more effort, with emotional containment or internal tension becoming part of everyday functioning.

Life transitions that disrupt previously reliable ways of functioning
Changes in role, identity, relationships, health, or career expose limits in strategies that once worked well.

How this work is approached.

This work goes beyond coping — it clarifies what is shaping your patterns under pressure.

The work begins by understanding what is getting in the way internally — not just what is happening on the surface.

Together, we look at the patterns that shape how you respond to pressure, responsibility, and challenge. This includes what has helped you function and succeed in the past, as well as what no longer works as reliably as it once did.

As a clinical psychologist, my role is to help clarify where current difficulties are coming from, how they are maintained, and why familiar efforts to “push through” or manage them may fall short.

From there, the work focuses on developing a clearer relationship to these internal dynamics, so that choices feel more deliberate, responses less automatic, and your capacity to move forward more grounded and sustainable.

Consultations are offered virtually and in person. The fee is $300.

How we work together

This is individual psychological work for people operating in high-stakes environments who want to think, decide, and perform with greater steadiness and clarity.

Initial contact
You reach out through the contact form to request a confidential consultation. There is no requirement to prepare anything in advance or explain your situation in detail.

First conversation
The first meeting is a focused conversation to understand what is bringing you in now, what you’ve already tried, and what you’re hoping might shift. This is not a commitment to ongoing work.

Clarifying fit
We use the early sessions to determine whether this work is appropriate for what you’re dealing with, and whether the way I work is a good fit for you. If not, we discuss alternatives.

Ongoing work
f we continue, sessions are collaborative and structured. The focus is on understanding the internal patterns that shape how you think, decide, and function under pressure — including anxiety, emotional regulation, and other concerns that become relevant over time.

Pace and scope
There is no fixed timeline. Some people work briefly around a specific issue; others stay longer as different areas of life and work come into focus.

Meet Dr. Khuraman Mamedova

PhD, C. Psych

I’m a clinical psychologist working with people who carry significant responsibility and want to understand why certain patterns persist despite competence, insight, and effort. My role is not to tell you what to do, but to help you see clearly — and work through — the dynamics that quietly shape how you think, decide, and relate under pressure.

Many high-functioning people are used to solving problems through discipline, insight, and performance frameworks. Coaching, mentorship, and advisory work can be useful — until the difficulty is no longer about strategy or execution.

As a clinical psychologist, I work with the internal patterns that operate beneath conscious intention. My training focuses on understanding how emotional regulation, personality structure, and past adaptations continue to shape performance and relationships under pressure.

This work is not about optimization or motivation. It is about understanding why certain patterns persist — and creating the conditions for choice, flexibility, and steadiness to return.
