Clinical & Counselling Psychologist (Supervised Practice)
Services provided in English, and able to converse in Korean.
Dr. Jinny Hong is passionate about helping individuals navigate difficulties in their relationships, work, and life that may be causing depression and anxiety. Her personal and professional mission is to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space for clients to explore and understand these challenges, and cultivate personal growth so they can live fulfilling lives.
Having completed her Masters and PhD in Clinical and Counselling Psychology at the University of Toronto, Dr. Hong has a specialized skillset in addressing mood and anxiety-related concerns including social anxiety, panic attacks, obsessions and compulsions, and trauma-related conditions. She tailors her approach to meet each client’s unique needs and draws from evidence-based modalities such as Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Her research delves into the relationship between discourse attributes of clients and therapists’ speech in CBT and EFT for depression, and their impact on clients’ therapeutic progress.
Dr. Hong brings a diverse perspective to her work through substantial experience with client populations from diverse backgrounds, in public hospitals, university clinics, and private clinic settings, where she provided both assessment and individual and group-based treatment services. Her wealth of experience includes completing her pre-doctoral clinical psychology residency at the Centre for Addictions and Mental Health (CAMH) in the Mood and Anxiety Ambulatory Services and the University of Toronto’s Health and Wellness Center. Dr. Hong completed her doctoral placements at the Brampton Civic Hospital‘s Adult Day Treatment Program for Mood and Anxiety Disorders, North York General Hospital’s Assessment and Wellness Clinic, CAMH’s Work, Stress, and Health Program, and University of Toronto Psychology Training Clinic, where she provided supervision to graduate students.
When she is not in the office, you can find Dr. Hong travelling around the world, cheering for the Toronto Raptors, or enjoying nature by running, hiking, kayaking, or skiing. She is fluent in English and is able to converse in Korean.
